Where moorland meets marshland, in a green area with a wide range of trees, an attractive waterworld was to be constructed from an open air pool in need of repair.
The theme of the new waterworld was based on a nostalgic journey on an Elbe ferry. Both the indoor and outdoor design include scenes of the local river landscape: ship, shipyard, port, harbour town, river loop, bathing bay and fishing village.
The sauna, with five cabins, the outdoor pool and the extensive sauna garden are located on various staggered levels. Designed as a village, the village square, fire brigade pond and fishing port form central points, with the sauna and wellness facilities grouped around them. Thatched roofs, timber frame structures. contemporary and local items, materiality and controlled lighting create the cosy atmosphere of a brief journey through time.
