We subjected the aging open-air swimming pool in Borgholzhausen to an extensive and thorough status analysis. The aim of the project was to renovate and modernise the pool from functional and economic viewpoints in the best possible way. In order to make the pool state-of-the-art, the pool’s walls and floor had to be thoroughly refurbished. In doing so, we decided – together with the client – to shorten the length of the pool to 25 m, considerably reducing the water surface. In functional terms, the municipality retains a competitive pool, while saving on operating costs as a result of the reduction in water space. Along with the renovation of the pool and its stainless steel lining, the entire complex was made more attractive and an inviting new children’s pool was planned and built.
