Open air pools require technical rejuvenation from time to time. The design at Münster-Hiltrup had also seen better days. A coat of paint would not have sufficed in this case. So we developed the idea of a typical beach pool with pleasant, new wooden buildings. Ranging from the lifeguard facility to the changing rooms and stand pyramid, everything is now in radiant, fresh blue and white, with flags on the roof, awnings and beach baskets in a dune landscape. We have created a fantastic sand-castle area from shaped concrete for the youngest of our beach pirates.
Our task was to realize more pool fun in a smaller water area. In line with this requirement we linked the sunbathing area directly to the entrance via a main axis. This divided the water area into clear functions such as the diving area and the sports pool with eight lanes. Thanks to the shallow water, one section is now also available for fun and ball games. The non-swimmer’s pool is divided into a busy fun area with a wide and 85m long slide and an area of exiting water attractions.
The stand pyramid undoubtedly is the center piece of the facility. Here you can see and be seen, not least because of the 5m diving platform which is in the direct line of view.
