Today, public utility companies are customer-oriented and want to communicate this fact by way of architecture of their building. The new construction at Schlossring offered an ideal opportunity.
We solved the difficult urban situation by proposing demolition of a part of the existing structure. This gave us the chance of creating a forecourt enclosed by the two wings of the new construction. An elegant access to the atrium covering all levels forms an entrance to the building.
Above the customer service section on the ground floor, the administrative departments of the company are located on two levels. The northern wing is accentuated by window strips protruding far across the corner, and can be seen as a welcome gesture on the part of the town. Differentiated window forms reproduce the interior structure of the building in the facade, and together with the bright plastering surfaces they underline its modernistic character.
